Cheers to beers
(and other beverages)

I’ve been designing for the craft beer industry for over 15 years. I’ve created dozens of beer packaging designs for cans, bottles, and cases. I’ve designed coasters, and tap handles and swag. You name it, I’ve probably designed it. I have a love of this industry that goes beyond the beverage.
Some ways I can help:

  • Help build your brand from the ground up, or

  • Breath more life into an already established brand.

  • Establish that balance that hierarchy between varietal and brand.

  • Roll out a consistent brand experience across all your touchpoints.

If you have a beverage company and want to work together let’s chat.

Cheers
Helen

Some brands I’ve worked with

Client: Born Brewing Co.
Role: Brand design, Art Direction + Illustration

I worked with Born Brewing Company from day 1. Branding the company from scratch, I helped them to establish a place in the Calgary craft beer industry through design of al the touchpoints a brewery needs, from swag, to tap handles and of course packaging.

I had the pleasure of working with Helen from 2017 to 2022. Helen’s work is fun and adventurous and we have had a lot of positive feedback from our customers with regards to our visual identity and branding. Helen is a good communicator and always makes every effort to complete projects in a timely manner. Helen is flexible and willing to work on a variety of projects at one time.

Client: Will Creative & Stanley Park Brewing
Role: Art Direction + Illustration

Working with Will Creative, I helped to illustrate packaging for the Stanley Park concession stand mix case, celebrating their location in Stanley park. I also worked with Will and illustrator Tom Haugomat to develop a new look for their first entry into the sours market.

Client: R&B Brewing - while working at St. Bernadine Mission Communications
Role: Art Direction + Illustration
Awards etc: Rebrand Award, Featured in Outside the Box book, Featured in Oh Beautiful Beer book, Featured in Communication Arts

R&B Brewing is one of Vancouvers original craft breweries. While working at St. Bernadine, I led the art direction of the rebrand, tapping into the scrappy DIY attitude of the brand by creating hand drawn packaging where everything was drawn by hand right down to the bar code.

Client: Apex Brewing
Role: Art Direction + Illustration

I worked with Apex brewing to help celebrate their 10th year in brewing with a can with special “shine through” areas in the print, a glass design and posters.

Client: Kalala Wines
Role: Art Direction + Illustration

I worked with Kalala wines through a studio called AKA way back in 2009 designing the illustration of the wold and lamb as the main logo for the brand. In 2019 I worked with them again on some subtle updates to the logo mark and some tweaks to the typography and the larger logo system and colour palette.

Client: Will Creative & Mill Street
Role: Art Direction + Illustration

I worked with Will creative to help develop a can for a new beer for Mill Street. For this we explored many approaches such as introducing a character and fleshing it out to be a part of a larger system of beers to fall under the cold banner.
